What is a Health Coach?

A Health Coach is a guide and mentor who empowers you, and provides ongoing support and guidance as you make sustainable changes towards improved health and happiness. 

 

My health coaching service emphasizes holistic health & wellness, and offers a support system that is unique to your needs. I will guide you to define and achieve your health goals, help you create action plans, hold you accountable, and support you in achieving these goals.

A Health Coach is Not:

  • A doctor or physicianso I won't be diagnosing, prescribing, or treating you

   (but I WILL support you in following your doctor's orders and recommendations).

  • A registered dietician, so I won’t be providing meal plans or specific diets

   (but I WILL support you in following a diet prescribed by a dietician or doctor...

    and I WILL provide education and suggestions regarding nutrition to support your goals). 

  • A therapist, so I won't be treating mental health issues, and won’t be focusing on your past

   (but I WILL meet you where you are today and move forward. We will likely acknowledge    things from the past as they come up in our work moving forward with your goals). 

 
 

No One Diet Works For Everyone

Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. This one-size-fits-all approach rarely leads to lasting change. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find these changes collectively create a much larger impact than they originally anticipated. We work on what needs to to improve within the circumstances of your unique situation. Together, we will find the food and lifestyle choices that best support you.

Bio-Individuality

 

The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I will support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

Deconstructing Cravings

 

Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs, and they shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings and understand what they are really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.

Crowding Out

 

Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will crowd out the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you along the way.

Primary Food

 

It is easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these primary foods are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and various dietary theories. I have also continued my education in both advanced coaching skills and plant-based nutrition. 

My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and prevention. Drawing on my expertise, I work with my clients to help make lifestyle changes, and to choose health-promoting ways to produce real and lasting results. You will develop a deeper understanding of food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your energy, balance, health, and happiness.

Each session will leave you feeling inspired and motivated. We will often talk about things beyond food, seeking to bring balance to important elements of your life. I will personally and carefully guide you through the simple, small changes that lead to your desired transformations.

Health Coaching Program

Individualized health coaching program unique to your goals 

Monthly Health Coaching Programs Include:

45-minute coaching sessions via Zoom (bi-weekly)

Twice a month, we will define your goals and talk through the progress and challenges that you face each week. In these sessions, I will also help you to develop your own strategies and action plan. 

Personalized Action Plan

Once your goals are clearly defined, we will co-create a unique plan of action. This will include smaller incremental steps and strategies towards your larger visions of health (ensuring true, lasting transformation and behavior change). Along the way, we will often re-evaluate the action plan, and make adjustments as needed. This mindset of fluidity allows for deeper learning and evolving as you fine tune what works best for you, and accomplish your higher goals. 

 

Guidance & education

As we work together, I will provide verbal suggestions, handouts, and resources to support your individualized health goals. 

Support in developing a healthy meal-prep routine

(manageable for both your schedule, and level of experience in the kitchen)

I will support you to in learning to create nourishing meals that are simple to prepare alongside your lifestyle. Starting from where you are now, I will also help you to discover the whole-food ingredients best suited for your diet.

Ongoing email support between sessions

Reach out to me any time via email with questions...or if you are feeling stuck, need emotional support, extra accountability, or even just to vent about your struggles.

One-on-one accountability for your goals

Any type of goal or personal growth is more likely accomplished with support and accountability. During our sessions (and via email in between), I am here for you. You don't have to do this alone!

Program Options

Studies have shown that lasting behavior change is most successful after 6 months of practice. For optimal results, a 6-month program is suggested. However, I recognize that a 6-month investment may be intimidating for those new to health coaching. Please see options below to decide which option feels best for you.
